What is a Spiritual Retreat?
A spiritual retreat is time set aside from the everyday concerns of life to reconnect with those things that matter most. Time is devoted to silence, walking, praying, thinking, reading, listening to music and may involve meeting with a spiritual director for part of this time.
Group spiritual retreats (church, corporate or other) are usually composed of 8-10 individuals who meet together for a brief meditation, go their separate ways for a specified amount of time and re-gather to debrief and share their experiences with one another. A spiritual director leads the meditation time as well as the debriefing session.
